WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF TOOTH SENSITIVITY?

Tooth sensitivity is never fun, especially when it’s caused by your favourite food and drink, be it hot, cold, sweet or acidic.

The underlying root surface of your teeth is called dentine – it is the layer that immediately surrounds the nerve. Normally it is protected by enamel and gums but over time the enamel can get thinner and the gums can recede, exposing dentine leaving your tooth feeling extra sensitive.

COMMON CAUSES OF SENSITIVE TEETH

Tooth sensitivity is not uncommon and can result from many factors, some more obvious than others. You might want to look out for the following:

Receeding gums

GUM RECESSION

The exposure in the roots of the teeth Is a common problem in adults over the age of 40.

Abrasive toothpaste

ABRASIVE TOOTHPASTE

This can cause enamel to thin and reveal the dentine underneath.

tooth erosion

ACIDIC BEVERAGES

Fizzy drinks and even fruit juices can cause heavy enamel erosion.

HOW PRO-ARGIN® CAN HELP

Ordinary toothpastes work by numbing the pain. However, pain triggers can still reach the nerves via the open tubules. Pro-Argin® plugs and seals dentine tubules, which helps block pain triggers to deliver instant* and lasting relief.

*When applied directly to the tooth for 1 minute.
